Surah Masad or Tabbat is the 111th surah and one of the Meccan surahs of the Qur'an, which is in the thirtieth chapter. The name Masad (string made of palm leaf) is taken from the last word of the sura and the name Tabbat is taken from the first verse of this sura. Surah Masad was revealed about Abu Lahab and his wife, the staunch enemies of the Prophet (PBUH), and called them both caught in the fire of hell. In this Surah, God calls Abulhab's wife Hamala al-Hatb (carrier of firewood) because she threw thorns in front of the Prophet's feet in order to annoy him. It is mentioned in the hadiths that the Prophet (PBUH) prayed that whoever recites this Surah, may God not place him and Abulhab in the same house.
